5th International Conference on Intangible Cultural Heritage - ICICH 2025
“Bridging the Past and Future: The Role of Intangible Heritage in a Changing World”
The 5th International Conference on Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICICH), is one of the pioneering conferences in this field of study in Sri Lanka. This year, ICICH will be held under the theme “Bridging the Past and Future: The Role of Intangible Heritage in a Changing World,” which explores how cultural heritage can adapt to societal changes while retaining its authenticity jointly organized by the Department of Anthropology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura and the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) of Sri Lanka.
The conference invites research contributions from diverse fields, including but not limited to Oral Traditions and Expressions, Performing Arts, Social Practices, Rituals and Festive Events, Traditional Craftsmanship, Traditional Food and Agriculture, Traditional Medicine, and Traditional Technologies. This interdisciplinary platform seeks to foster dialogue, exchange ideas, and enhance collective efforts to explore how intangible cultural heritage can adapt to societal changes while retaining its authenticity. By aligning with the theme “Bridging the Past and Future: The Role of Intangible Heritage in a Changing World,” the conference aims to inspire innovative approaches to safeguarding heritage for future generations.
